This month brings a change of season with Autumn beginning on 22 September 2022 and running through to 21 December 2022. The countryside will be ablaze with colour although at the time of writing this I’m seeing nothing but parched burnt brown grass and temperatures in excess of 33 degrees. Autumn signifies change and as nature changes, it makes it a great time for our own self reflection, awareness and mindfulness.

Coupling the theme of change with the ever pressing need to nourish our bodies and build our immune you can imagine my excitement to find out that Wolverley actually has allotment spaces available to rent. The ideology of growing your own could be closer than you think! For those of you old enough, do you remember Tom and Barbara from the Good Life? There are many practices from years ago that really would benefit from being in our future. Growing your own in my opinion has to be one such thing – obviously delicious harvests for your dining table but gardening has so many health benefits. Gardening is good for your self esteem, your heart, it can help reduce stress and make you happy. It’s great for all the family and works for all ages to do together. There really is something magical about nurturing and watching growth. Gardening has been hailed for developing a growth mindset, which means a mindset that can always see learning and growth from set backs. A valuable perspective of thought as we navigate lifes constant changes. For more information about Wolverley allotments (and availability of plots) contact Jenny on 01562 851511.

Those of you who read my monthly articles will know I’m a big fan of pick your own vegetables, given their maximum nutrition. September will see a plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables in season: apples, bilberries, blackberries, blueberries, Bramley apples, damsons, elderberries, pears, plums, raspberries, redcurrants, artichoke, aubergine, beetroot, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celeriac, celery, chilies, courgettes, cucumber, fennel, French beans, garlic, horseradish, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, lettuce, mangetout, marrow, onions, pak choi, peas, peppers, potatoes, pumpkin, radishes, runner beans, shallots, spinach, spring onion, squash, sweetcorn, tomatoes, turnips, watercress, wild mushrooms. An impressive list with plenty of choice to target yourself for 10 a day. 10 varieties of vegetables and fruit each day really is the best for you and super easy too if you start with a couple of types of berries in the morning and weave a salad into at least one of your meals of the day.

Asia, who over the years has inspired and coached many clients to achieve significant Hypoxi body fat reduction transformations, keeps her Instagram page updated with lots of great food ideas. I’d highly recommend checking it out: bic_healthandwellbeing.

For those of you wondering, bic is short for be in control, and when it comes to fueling your body, being in control is critical. The key is often to eat better and not necessarily less. It will take planning though, remember the old adage, fail to plan and plan to fail?! Check out the food pictures on Asia’s Instagram, you are sure to find ideas to tickle your tastebuds and boost your health.

Thanks for reading and if you have any questions, I am happy to answer them privately, or in the next edition. Just email me dianne@rejuvenateathypoxi.co.uk. Previous copies of my health column can be found at www.rejuvenateathypoxi.co.uk
